Oliver Wyman appoints 10 new US partners

Management consultancy Oliver Wyman has promoted 10 people to partner in the US, effective January 1, 2020, with nine based in New York and one in San Francisco.

The New York–based firm welcomed 36 people to its partnership globally at the start of the year.

“Our new partners span the globe in terms of location, experience, and expertise and we are lucky to have them,” said Scott McDonald, president and CEO of Oliver Wyman. “I congratulate them on their achievement and know they will help our clients navigate challenges and opportunities in a fast-changing market.”

The new US partners are Charles Franklin (San Francisco) and New York–based partners Mei Guan, Russell Jones, Jonathan Lee, Ming Lee, Rick Oxenhandler, Chris Schrader, Farooq Sheikh, Yuefan Weng, and Tim Xu.

Charles Franklin specializes in data and analytics, and currently serves as the firm’s global data science lead. Franklin interned at Goldman Sachs and Oliver Wyman, and ultimately chose to join the management consultancy in 2010 following the completion of a master’s degree in mathematics at the University of Cambridge. He also holds a bachleor’s degree in mathematics from the same institution.

Mei Guan has been a management consultant at the firm since 2011, joining as a consultant and then being promoted to principal in 2015. Before joining Oliver Wyman, she was an associate at Inductis, a consultancy specializing in data and analytics. Guan holds a PhD in political science from Yale University and a BA in international relations from Peking University.

Russell Jones has been with the firm for more than seven years, and supports clients in retail and business banking with strategy, operations, and risk advisory. He was previously a founding member of Nodal Exchange, the first centrally cleared commodities trading platform in the US. Jones holds an MBA from Northwestern University and a BA in government from Cornell University.

Jonathan Lee focuses on digital transformation at financial institutions, and has designed a number of digital assets at Oliver Wyman, including its advanced analytics and insights platform (TAMI). He joined the firm in 2011 after completing a BA in economics from New York University.

Ming Lee advises clients in financial services on strategy design and implementation, risk management, and market entry/expansion, among other areas. She joined the firm in 2008, following the completion of a BS in biochemistry and immunobiology at the University of Sydney.

Rick Oxenhandler focuses on retail and business banking clients, helping them shape corporate strategy, customer experience, and operations. He joined the firm in 2012, and holds a BS in economics, finance, and marketing from the University of Pennsylvania.

Chris Schrader helps C-level executives and boards in healthcare tackle growth strategy, disruptive business innovation, and customer segmentation, among other areas. He has been with Oliver Wyman since 2003. Schrader holds an MBA from Northwestern University and a BSE In operations research and financial engineering from Princeton University.

Farooq Sheikh advises insurance firms, banks, and asset managers on strategy, financial effectiveness and digital. He joined the firm in 2013, having previously been a director of corporate strategy and development at Manulife Financial. Sheikh holds a bachelor of mathematics in finance and actuarial science from the University of Waterloo, and executive education certificates from INSEAD and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Yuefan Weng has been a management consultant at Oliver Wyman since 2015. Weng joined the firm from Morgan Stanley, where they spent over seven years and were latterly a vice president. Weng holds a BA in economics and public policy from the University of Chicago.

Tim Xu joined Oliver Wyman in 2012, and focuses on the financial services industry. He holds a BA in economics from Yale University.

Oliver Wyman provides a full range of business consulting services, and has Canadian offices in Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary. The New York-based firm has 1,400 professionals across 25 North American offices, and a total of 5,000 professionals in 29 countries. Oliver Wyman has annual revenues in excess of $2 billion, and is a Marsh & McLennan company alongside HR consultancy Mercer.
